Education

I attended boarding school in Dorset, English. I studied for my Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature at the University of Oxford.

Experience

I have tutored English Language and Literature to a range of students from GCSE, A-Level to IB. I also offer UK boarding school test preparations and ELAT, which is a pre-interview admissions test for applicants to English undergraduate courses at the University of Oxford and English at the University of Cambridge. Having successfully applied to and graduated from Oxford, I have first-hand experience of tackling the Oxbridge admissions process, from mastering the art of writing the personal statement to the ELAT to the interviews. I would be happy to advise and guide prospective Oxbridge candidates on navigating what can often appear to be a nerve-wracking and impenetrable selection process. I thoroughly enjoyed the English Language and Literature course at Oxford, which is one of the broadest in the country, giving me the chance to study writing in English from its origins in Anglo-Saxon England to Modern Literature. It has taught me to think, given me a voice, and provided me with the unique, invaluable opportunity to engage in rigorous debates with some of the world's leading academics and be intellectually stimulated. One of the reasons I enjoy English is that there are no "model answers" per se, only different ways of interpreting and connecting dots within and/or across texts. I hope to structure our lessons wisely, whilst covering the exam syllabus and consolidating exam preparations, to convey my passion for literature and instill the Oxford tutorial teaching style into our lessons.

Hobbies

Apart from attending speaker events and idea dinners and reading financial magazines/journals to keep up to date with current affairs, I read fictions, non-fictions, poetry and attend book clubs. I am a keen musician. I played the piano until diploma level and was the founding pianist of the St Giles Quartet and Vice-President of the Oxford University Chamber Music Society. In my spare time, I enjoy playing the piano and cello, going to classical concerts, operas, ballet shows, theatrical plays and musicals. I also enjoy playing tennis, dancing, yoga, hiking, travelling and going for long country walks.
