I am from Canada! I have both a B.A. in English Literature and a B.Ed. in Secondary English (5 Years) from Mount Allison University, the #1 small university in Canada for many years running. I am a proud alumnus.
Experience
I have 21 years teaching experience at international schools (14 years Secondary English). Additionally, I have taught 7 years of AP Language and Composition - my passion - (with 53% above the national average in 5s). I'm completing my first year of teaching IB MYP English. I have gone to Israel to Yad Vashem for studies in the Holocaust and get to do amazing units on this with students. It is a passion. I'm particularly interested in tutoring AP Lang. as that is my passion. I love the material and topics. I have moved away from it this year in order to expand my repertoire with some IB, but I still love AP Lang. above others. The writing skills involved in high school writing in general are what get me pumped. I love to see students grow in their skills and feel more confident in their abilities. Their grades shouldn't be how they judge themselves, but it is a pressure they face. I like to help my students feel that they are enough as people AND that they can always grow and develop as students.

Hobbies
I enjoy some sports such as baseball and running. Or course I love to read - current events, non-fiction and history are my favourite subjects, amongst many others. My family thrives on music. I have played musical instruments and enjoy music of all sorts. Travel is appreciated. I love riding rollercoasters! Meeting friends is a must. I love animals, especially my own adorable cat.
